Dusseldorf Animated

The video Dusseldorf Animated is inspired by the history and modern presence of this city on the Rhine. The nature of the Rheinland is dominated by heathland flowers growing on the banks of the river and wherever land is temporarily unused. Often this is in places with remnnats of a once extensive rail freight infrastructure. Rusty parallel rails cover large areas extending to the horizon, filled with heathland flowers of all colours and supporting insect and bird life of great diversity. This immense beauty is temporary, always under the gaze of developers as 'new found land'.
Where the river meets the city, the architecture blends its water into the character of a walkable modern medieval city.
